Opening Day Coming Closer

Posted by louisekellydesigns on April 2, 2010 at 7:12 PM

Thankfully there's a bank holiday weekend so I can spend every waking hour (and hours I should stiill be sleeping) down getting everything ready for opening day.

As fast as I can tick one item off my 'to do' list I think of another one.

I spent most of today pricing up hundreds of rolls ribbon and then trying to sort flowers out. At home I had them sorted by colour order but to make life easier in the shop they need to be sorted into price order. The shop looks like a bombsite when I left at 9pm tonight and as I've got a customer coming at 10:45 tomorrow morning I've got to be there by about 6am to try and get some kind order there.

It will be worth it has become my chant - I really really wise the rain would stop so I can get my cards and paper over there.

My very talented husband has started assembling my sign. My name is now on it in lovely ivory acrylic letters. The bottom of the shop panels are now a very vivacious lime green so its going to make it very easy to spot when I give directions.

Well I'm going to sign off now as its 12.17am and I can hardly keep my eyes open. Since I've been home I've been decorating lovespoons to give out to customers on the day. Its going to be fab for anyone who comes and I know they'll be really surprised and never ever guess that its been 3 weeks since I signed the contract.

Next update tomorrow

Hi Sam
Its in Pontarddulais - Number 136 St Teilo Street. You can't really miss it once you're there as its dark brown and very very lime green. Its officially opening at 12midday this Tuesday - pop in if you're about! Lou

Easter Sunday and up at 6.30am - oh well its got to be done as we (my step-daughter Zoe and myself ) didn't leave until 9.30pm when I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. Mike (my husband) is amazing at anything practical - you should see my sign and shopfront - well I should say you can't miss my sign and shop front as its bright lime green and dark brown and cream - thats all Mike's handy work along with the window boxes. We'd all been there along with my mum all dy until about 6.30 popping home for some food.

Coming back down after dinner was hard as the aches from sitting on a concrete floor all day were setting in and as we were going to carry on counting and sorting flowers (funnily enough not Mike's cup of tea only Zoe came down. Natalie ( my other step daughter) came down with her Dad just to have a quick look (no shortage of Saturday staff...even when being told there'll be no payment till some money starts coming back in)

Not only is Zoe an Ikea queen but also has so much patience. Yesterday her and my mum Cherie spent virtually the whole day counting flowers and sorting card.

On to today - I've got to try and clear the shop floor as Mike needs to put the skirting on and finish tidying my windows up. If I can get everything sorted inside I'm thinking of popping down to Parc Trostre and up to by the Liberty Stadium to hand out leaflets...maybe I'll see you out and about shopping.
